Dracula is the KING of all vampires. But he isn't just a corny vampire dressed in a cape with a funny collar there is more! Oh, so much more!

He is known by many names Vlad III, Vlad Tepes, Vlad the Impaler, Vlad Dracula or just Dracula. His father Vlad II was given the name Dracul which means "dragon" or "devil" this was becuase he belonged to the Order of the Dragon so when he had a son Vlad III he was given the name Dracula namley meaning "Son of the Dragon/ Devil". Even his name sounds dramatic but his life added extra PA-ZOW!!!

Firstly, people associate Dracula with Transylvania. He was actually born there while his father Vlad II was exiled there but he ruled in Wallachia, Romania.

The story of his life is indeed similar to the plot of the recent movie Dracula Untold. When he was a child he was given to the turkish sultan as hostages to appease then turks.

He later on came back to rule in Wallachia and he became a very good leader but also very cruel. He loved to impale people, nail hats to peoples heads and burn beggars. There was also a peom written about him. This poem is what drove people to believe he was a vampire, because when the peom was translated into other languages it got muddled up. In the end it was about how he drank blood. When it was originally how he washed his hands in the blood of his victims before he ate which really isn't any better, but anyways.

Another historical vampiric figure is Elizabeth Báthory she was also a cruel ruler. One day in her castle her servant was brushing here hair when the maid hurt her scalp so Elizabeth turned and hit her slave which drew blood it landed on Elizabeth's hand and it made her skin look fresher. From that day on she tricked girls into her castle and murdered them and bathed in there blood.

I hope you enjoyed the slice of history.
